narrative: stepping stones to a cohesive community.
Designed to address local social issues and unite the community around Stoneydown Park, the “Stepping Stones” mosaic plinth design won the Speakers Corner Competition. Resulting from community engagement workshops with the local primary schools and residents, the design of the series of mosaic topped plinths forms a multifunctional play area, picnic tables and chairs as well as a Speakers Corner; the “stepping stones” towards greater communication and cohesion within the local community. The design is the first Speakers Corner to be built in 150 years since the one in Hyde Park.
