Client: British Waterways Trust, Hackney, London.
narrative: mythical creatures of the Hackney Canal.
Instigating an urban myth through posters and an article in the local paper about a “Canaligator” who terrorises local wildlife in the Hackney Canal, this project aimed to engage younger volunteers for the British Waterways Trust to help clean and maintain the canal and to change their perception of volunteer work.
We teamed up with the Urban Greenline, a charity that aims to green urban areas around London, to hold a volunteering event on the Hackney canal bank, sponsored by the British Waterways Trust. Volunteers removed rubbish and cleaned the canal bankside and rescued green rubber ducks from the fearsome “Canaligator”.
